Learn through play at Footsteps School

h-03

WHAT WILL YOUR CHILD LEARN/DO AT FOOTSTEPS?

There are lots of activities available everyday, during which the adults work with children on set tasks.
At Footsteps, we believe that young children learn through play (i.e. Active involvement and exploration, making mistakes and solving problems and activities which are challenging and relevant).
This principle underlies our curriculum planning.

“Play is beneficial for developing a range of skills and at least some of them are improved by play-induced changes in the prefrontal cortex. This has important implications for human development.”

WHY PLAY IS IMPORTANT IN EDUCATION

  • Play is a natural activity for children and it underlines a great deal of their learning.
  • It is a social activity and it always involves toys and materials. Through play children can express their emotions.
  • All types of play are equally valuable.
  • Through play, children practice and build up ideas, concepts and skills. Play helps children to think creatively and imaginatively.

“For the free man there should be no element of slavery in learning. Enforced exercise does no harm to the body but enforced learning will not stay in mind. So avoid compulsion and let your children’s lessons take form of play”.
